Focus Shift | Our name has changed from Vintage HiFi Nut to Modern HiFi Nut to reflect a shift away from vintage gear restoration (due to challenges like finding reliable parts and long repair wait times) towards carefully curated new, high-performance audio components and accessories.

Listening Room | We operate as a home-based business featuring a dedicated listening room in Bedford, Texas — centered between Fort Worth and Dallas in the Mid-Cities area. By appointment only, customers can get a personalized experience where we can mix and match complete audio systems. You can even bring in your audio equipment to see and hear how it sounds with new gear.

Partner Brands | We are an authorized dealer for some of the best high-end audio brands on the planet, including: Audio Desk Systeme, Audio-Technica, Cardas Audio, Chord Company, Fyne Audio, Grado Labs, MoFi Electronics, Quad HiFi, Rega Reserach, IsoAcoustics, IsoTek and Solidsteel. We are also a dealer for URP Music Distributors and offer a 10% discount on new vinyl records and SACD/CD’s you buy with us on local purchases.

Products | Our primary focus is on electronic components, turntables, speakers, power line cleaners, isolation products, record cleaners, cables, audio racks, speaker stands and accessories. We only represent brands that we like and would own. Being a small business, we are limited to what we stock and focus on products that are in higher demand with our local customers. Think of us as your concierge in your audio journey!

Services | We offer limited turntable service, depending on the brand and model. If you buy a new phono cartridge from us, we will install and setup (align and adjust) for FREE! We can also offer laser assembly and ribbon connector replacement for select Rega Apollo and Saturn CD players. We do not perform general electronics repair, but we can help you locate someone who can help you, whether it is across the country, or here in the DFW metro area. Delivery & Installation | We maintain a small inventory. So when customer orders have to ship to our location, we are open to delivering to you within a reasonable distance from Bedford, Texas. As a general rule, deliveries within 30 minutes are free.

Vintage vs Modern

The audio community is full of people with different opinions on vintage and modern audio gear. Which is best? You can find people who stand with both feet on one side or the other. Our position is that you can put a fun and great sounding system together with a mix of old and new. For some audio lovers, this can satisfy both the visual side of audio (that is all about how it looks), and the aural side of things (with higher performance amps, speakers and turntables that are designed with better materials and components to higher spec).

The bottom line is that if you enjoy what you already have, then it is a good system. Don’t let anyone rain on your parade! Many people we work with are new to the hobby, or are getting back into it after decades. Both groups in need of some guidance. We are not going to try and sell you anything you don’t want or need. We are here to help you achieve a higher level of performance if that is the road you are on.
